Seventh-day Adventist Photographers Gathering – Cuba 2017

This is an event organized by the Communication Department of the Inter-American Division. Its purpose is to strengthen collaborative relationships among Adventist photographers in Inter-America as well as promote generating photographic images for evangelistic purposes.

The event will promote the tools, experiences, and ideas designed to enrich creativity, techniques, and the mission of preaching the gospel through high-quality images.

The Cuba event will also set the standard for establishing a model plan of training and networking which will be used develop future regional events at union, conference and local-field levels.

CONCEPTUAL APPROACH.
Photography has evolved in the last few years, not only because of its transition from analog to digital, but also in the alignment of fixed images with moving images. It is something that has triggered a greater interest in photographers who use video capabilities, and video producers who use photographic cameras. Nowadays, practically every camera can record video. Therefore, the conceptual approach of the event will be mostly on the alignment of photography and other media such as video.

PARTICIPANTS.
 
Open to Seventh-day Adventist professional photographers from the Inter-America territory who will be able to contribute their ideas and experiences to the group.

CONTENT.
Training will include plenary sessions and talks, in addition to time for planning collaborative projects which can benefit the Adventist Church.

FINANCING.
Each participant will cover his or her travel, accommodation, and food costs. The Inter-American Division will provide the materials and training.

VISA
All foreigners traveling to Cuba are required to have a visa document for their entry to the country. Each delegate will have to find out the requirements for visa in his/her country before travel.

HOTEL
Every delegate can choose his or her preferred hotel. Since in Cardenas lodging options are rather limited, it is recommended you make a reservation in Varadero, which is about 9 miles (15 kms) from the Cardenas Adventist Church.

Barceló Arenas Blancas is an “all inclusive” hotel. There are several restaurants buffet and a la carte. For delegates who prefer another hotel, we recommend you choose a hotel which includes meals (all inclusive).

GENERAL PROGRAM.
Training and inspirational program: Friday afternoon and all day on Sabbath.

HAVANNA TOUR AND PHOTO WALK.
On Sunday, September 3, a trip to Havana will take place. Event organizers will provide round-trip transportation from Varadero to the first 20 to register for the photographers’ event. Havana is located approximately 2.5 hours from Varadero by bus. 

SUGGESTED TRAVEL DATES.
Arrival: Thursday, August 31 (in the afternoon), or Friday, September 1 (in the morning).
Return: Monday, September 4.
